Sibello brothers gain bronze at 49er worlds
Italian olympic sailing team celebrates an important result in the acrobatic 49er class. During the 2005 World Championship that has been raced on lake Klyazminskole, near Moscow (Russia) and finished on September 3rd, brothers Pietro and Gianfranco Sibello, managed to gain bronze medal after over 20 very tight and spectacular races, in rather instable medium-light wind conditions.

The technical level of the competition has been very high, with 67 crews representing 23 countries, and it can be considered for many as the first step on the way to the Olympics of Bejing 2008. World Champions title goes to Rodion Luka e George Leonchuk of Ukraina (silver medallists in the 2004 Olympics), while british Chris Draper e Simon Hiscocks (bronze in Athens 2004). The great performance of Pietro and Gianfranco Sibello is furthermore outlined by the fact that they managed to keep ahead of Olympic champions Iker Martinez e Xavier Fernandez of Spain.

The recent result, which is the best ever result for an italian crew in the 49er class, shows that the Sibello brothers are now a brillint and consistent realities of the italian sailing movement. Believing in their great potentialities, Gottifredi Maffioli has startet with them and other valuable italian and international crews in various olympic classes an active long term technical partnership, which brought to the development of a range of new products that are particularly suitable for dinghy sailing, like the unbeatble Newswift, which is able to deliver an amazing mix of lighness, strength and durability.
